HORA control valves are versatile, modular valves for use in power plants under demanding conditions. Our control valves are suited for the regulation of gas, steam or liquid media flows in all industrial areas of application. They are designed especially for water and steam at high pressures and temperatures in power plants.

Due to close cooperation with plant engineers and technical project management, HORA is able to recognise problems and provide optimum solutions based on many years of experience in the design and manufacture of control valves.

Careful material selection and tested designs prevent typical problems such as erosion, corrosion, cavitation, vibration, noise and insufficient control. The combination of optimized design with cost-effectiveness has proven our products to be an excellent choice for demanding operating conditions.

Steam conditioning valve: Steam pressure throttling and cooling. We offer our customers the ideal steam conditioning solution for every specific plant layout dependent upon:

  • the steam temperature relative to the saturated steam temperature
  • the flow of steam
  • the required cooling water flow
  • cooling water pressure
  • distance to the temperature sensor
  • the pipe diameter

We concentrate almost exclusively on the engineering, manufacture, and sales of special control valves for the water and steam cycle of fossil fuel-fired power plants. The global appetite for energy is growing. Particularly in countries such as Russia, India, and China, where large power plant construction schemes are underway and large capital investments are being made in building new power plants and modernizing older power plants. We began our participation in these growth markets at an early stage, and we set up a global sales and service network in Europe, North America, and Asia together with our local partners. This makes us a preferred partner for large, globally-operating power plant builders such as Siemens, Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. and General Electric as well as the Russian Power Machines or Shanghai Boiler Works.

In-house vertical manufacturing levels of up to 90% are the main reason why we produce our final control elements at a very high level of quality and with excellent value for money. We develop our expertise and core competence in important fields like welding, annealing and large body machining in-house. This benefits our customers on the excellent quality of our products. A key indicator of this fact is the very low complaint rate. It is significantly below the industry average.
